The Strength of a Mother's Love: Lessons in Empathy, Kindness and Gratitude

“Mothers are like glue. Even when you can't see them, they're still holding the family together.”That quote has stuck with me for years. And honestly, the older I get, the more I understand just how true it is.

My mom is the glue in my life. She holds everything and everyone together without ever making a big deal out of it. From the outside, it might just look like she’s doing a lot. But when you really pay attention, it’s much more than that. It’s the way she loves, the way she shows up, the way she makes sure everyone else is okay—even when she’s exhausted.

She wakes up at 5am, already balancing emails and workouts and making sure my sister and I have what we need for the day. And somehow, she still ends the night with me in her lap, helping me fall asleep, before going right back to work with her clients and teams across the globe. Yet, she does it every day without complaining.

I’ve learned so much from my mom. Through what she says, what she does, what she teaches me. She’s taught me what real work ethic looks like. What it means to show empathy to everybody. How to be strong, but still be kind. And how to always, always, be grateful. She’s the reason I’m becoming the person I want to be.

And even when she’s far away— on the other side of the world—she somehow still makes me feel like she’s right there. That kind of love doesn’t make sense in a logical way, but it exists. It’s always there, holding everything up.

Some of my favorite memories are just us doing things together: planning vacations spontaneously, traveling together, those Friday night walks that are always the highlight of my week, and I know those are the moments I’ll remember forever. The ones that make our bond so real and unbreakable.

I still think about the way she always knows exactly what to say when I’m spiraling—whether it’s a mini life crisis over a math review or just me overthinking something tiny. No matter what it is, she always gets it.

And even when she doesn’t have all the answers, just hearing her voice makes me feel like I’m going to be okay.

My mom is everything to me in life. She’s my support system, my stuffed animal to cuddle, my rock and my best friend.

Mother’s Day is such a small way to celebrate something so massive. But still, I want to say thank you to my mom. For sacrificing everything for me. For always supporting me, encouraging me, being there for me. I love you ❤️ Happy Mother’s Day.

Navya, this is simply beautiful. As I read this, I felt you had articulated what I feel for my own Ma, in words I probably couldn’t have found by myself. I have known your Mom for over 25 years now and I agree on how special she is. I am so glad she has been blessed with such wonderful daughters. God bless you and keep you happy❤️
