There are moments in life which you know that you will remember and cherish forever. This week, I went on a school trip to Rawa, an island in Malaysia, and it was incredible. Snorkeling, kayaking, sandcastle building and team bonding all in beautiful clear waters and soft sand.Â
Let me tell you all about it. The trip was four days and three nights, and we spent the entire time doing tons of activities on the island. We did some ocean activities like kayaking and snorkeling, which were amazing since we got to see all kinds of coral reefs, different types of fish, even some sea anemone. We also did other things like hiking, jetty jumping, kampung games, batik workshops, sandcastle building and more. There were stunning views we were able to see, and the sunsets were gorgeous.Â
However, the trip was not just about the beautiful places and things that we saw. It was also about the growth and the change that I experienced. Two years ago, I used to suffer from insomnia, and just couldn’t sleep when I was away from home. I came back crying after my first school trip and vowed to never go on one again. Looking at me now, I have grown tremendously in the past two years, and I’m so proud of how much I’ve developed as a person.Â
This trip, I think that the biggest takeaway from it was the memories and friendships that I made. I still remember the nightly chats we would have with each other in our rooms, whispering quietly so the teachers wouldn't wake up. Our conversations at dinner, laughter echoing every few minutes from another joke someone made. I formed new friendships, and made memories that I will forever remember. I still distinctly remember one moment- all of us eating dinner, and laughing so hard because one of us said something funny, and in the moment it felt so blissful, like it was a moment I didn’t want to leave.Â
The happiness, the joy, the warmth that filled the air was something that I will never forget. This trip to Rawa was a reminder that true happiness isn’t in the big things, but also in the small, shared moments. The memories filled with warmth and joy will stay with me forever, knowing that the friendships and memories I made were the greatest treasures of all
