Hi! Welcome back to my blog! This week, I will be talking about my favourite movie, The Martian. In case you don't know, The Martian is a movie about a guy who is an astronaut and gets stuck on Mars. He is then forced to attempt and live on Mars after a space mission fails, as the other astronauts on the space mission try to make their way to save him. It’s a fascinating movie, and it also displays a lot of values. I’ll explain as we go. The main character is a man by the name of Mark Watney, and I find how he ends up surviving on Mars to be really intriguing.
The reason that I really like this movie is not only is the plot really interesting, but it also conveys several different values in it. In the movie, some of the values displayed are perseverance, courage, integrity and problem solving!
He is forced to live in extremely hostile conditions until someone comes to rescue him. For all he knew, it could take years! Somehow, he ends up surviving, using the most interesting and unique techniques to survive.
Mark Watney was on Mars stranded for around 4 years, and had to find a way to survive. That would have had to require a lot of perseverance and courage. He kept on going. He never gave up. I find that to be exceptional. He also utilised a lot of problem solving techniques. He was able to grow potatoes and make water on Mars! Mark was able to stay calm in a very difficult and dangerous situation, and also problem solve. Perseverance, courage, integrity, problem solving. All these values are life-long skills. They will help you grow, develop and thrive. Even in the hardest of times, it’s important to persevere and have the courage to keep on going. Equally important is the ability to stay calm and problem-solve to find the best solution. These are all super important values, and I think that these will benefit your life no matter what. The Martian is also a highly entertaining movie, and I suggest you watch it soon if you haven’t done so.
